# Stock Management

> How to consume, restock, and adjust inventory levels.

# Stock Management

## Stock Actions

From any item's detail page, you can perform three stock actions:

### Consume

Reduces stock when items are used. Select a reason:

* **Sample** — Used in a sample (links to sample)
* **Production** — Used in production (links to production order)
* **Office** — Used in office/admin
* **General Factory** — General factory use
* **Damaged** — Item was damaged
* **Other** — Anything else (add a note)

### Restock

Increases stock when new items arrive. Typically used when:

* Purchase order goods are received
* Items are returned to stock
* Initial stock count correction

### Adjust

Sets stock to an exact number. Used for:

* **Physical count** — After doing a physical stock count
* **Correction** — Fixing a data entry error
* **Other** — Any other reason

  All stock adjustments require a reason. This keeps the transaction history clean and auditable.

## Transaction History

Every stock change is automatically logged. View the full history on the **Transactions** tab of any item.

Each transaction records:

* **Date and time** of the change
* **Type** — Consumed, Restocked, or Adjusted
* **Quantity change** — How much was added or removed
* **New quantity** — Stock level after the change
* **Who** made the change
* **Reason/Note** — Why the change was made
* **Linked order** — Production order or sample (if applicable)

## Low Stock Alerts

When an item's stock drops below its **minimum level**, it is flagged:

* An **amber "Low" badge** appears on the item card
* The system can send notifications (configurable)

### Setting Minimum Levels

Each item has a **Min Stock Level** field. Set this based on how quickly you use the item:

* Fast-moving items (common buttons, zippers): set higher (e.g., 25-50)
* Slow-moving items (special accessories): set lower (e.g., 5-10)
* Items you don't stock regularly: set to 0

## Stock Safety

The system prevents negative stock — you cannot consume more than what's available. All stock operations are **atomic** (guaranteed to be accurate even if multiple people update at the same time).
